NYE 2016

In about 36 hours, we’ll be telling everyone “Happy New Year!” In about 36 hours, a “reset” will take place. 2017 is among us, do you feel it? It’ll be here before we know it!

It’s the start of something new (S/O to HSM)! A new near is always exciting. It’s like getting a new something (game, shoes, clothes, etc), but a lot of the time (~75% of the time), we get bored. We forget the value and the feeling of what that something meant when we first got it, then treat it like it’s not so valuable anymore.

Have you realized we kinda do that with the year sometimes? We get super excited to start a new year, make resolutions, goals, dreams, claim we want a great year even, but as it goes on, we kinda….forget. We forget about the resolutions, goals, dreams, and claims we made in January and by March they’re not so exciting anymore, and on December 1 we’re anxiously waiting for the new year to come, so we can start all over.

But have you realized we have a tendency to do that in our relationship with God? When we get baptized, we’re crazy! We’re hype! Ready to be fools for Jesus, but somewhere along the way we get comfortable….then we get lazy/bored….and eventually lose our way. I can say from experience, I was baptized at 10 and didn’t really realize that I was at a standstill in my relationship with God until I was about 15. 5 years! Now that I think about it, I wonder how I could’ve gone even a couple of days without Him. But it happens to many of us and I’m here to tell you: it’s okay. We’re about to end a year, but listen, the best is yet to come. We have another chance to begin again. To renew our relationships with God. To turn our lives around. To go back to that honeymoon phase and make it a lifestyle.

I strongly encourage you, that if you’re thinking about it, do it. Whether it’s been 5 weeks, 5 months, 5 years or even 15 years. It’s your time, God is waiting for you & can’t wait to take you back into His arms. His grace is surely enough for you. If you need any help or prayer, feel free to contact me!
