12 Days of Blogmas - Day 1

I love me some Christmas karaoke. In fact, a simple Christmas carol will have me filled with cheer. It Came Upon a Midnight Clear? We Three Kings? Silent Night? Let’s not forget Mary, Did You Know? Now, THAT is a BOP, a BANGER, that song SLAPS. HARD.

One of my sisters sings it often, so it’s in my head often, but I’m THAT girl and really do wonder what Mary thought, or how far her imagination took her when she found out she’d be carrying the Messiah, especially at her young age. How do you carry on with such big news? I imagine she was nervous. I imagine she also could have had some doubt in her ability to carry out this task. I don’t know. What we do know is that she was obedient and accepted this call on her life. I fully believe that it wasn’t easy, but I also believe it was worth it.

What has God asked you to carry? I believe that there’s something everyone is meant to do in this life, something they will leave behind and be remembered for that is assigned by God. People come to an understanding of this in different ways and at different times. We may not always be aware of it, and even if we are, we may not always understand the magnitude of it. These people we remember in the Bible, they carried things inside of them that was bigger than themselves. Even when they couldn’t see it, God knew what they were capable of. I want to encourage you, especially as this year and decade end, to consider what it is that you’re being called to carry. And when you know, imagine all the possibilities of that specific thing. Now think about where you are right now, what can you do to prepare? Do you need to learn discipline? Do you need to spend more time in prayer? Is there someone who is supposed to help you? Consider these things and surrender to God. Remember that even in all the planning/preparation, His ways are not our ways. There will still be some things that will come to us as a shock, but remember your obedience and the posture of your heart are very important. Do you think Mary would have imagined giving birth where she did? It was all part of God’s plan. And when you’re in the right place with Him, you’ll learn to grow content in receiving whatever life gives you, because You know Who created it.

I pray that you come to know your purpose if you don’t know it already and that you carry it with a Mary attitude. Willing to say yes, no matter what and believing in the impact it will leave on this Earth.

Somewhere in a Santa hat,
