New Year!

Welcome to the last Friday of 2017!

Can you imagine?! It honestly feels like someone hit the Fast Forward button on this year! I’m truly shocked by how quick it went.

I’ve been spending this week thinking, praying about, and working on my plans for next year. I know that this year has been successful, even in the midst of trials, temptations, mishaps, etc. I feel like I’ve grown this year and I’m so excited for next year!

At the same time, I’m a bit scared. I plan on challenging myself a lot next year and pushing myself towards a better version of me. I’ll be tackling things that I might have thought about or attempted in 2017 that I didn’t finish or may have even been too scared to begin. And I’ve realized that many of these things were things that I didn’t really involve God in as much as I should have. As much as I tried to involve Him, I ended up trying to do things in my own strength and we know how that ends. So my word for 2018: commit. Commitment is so scary to me. I like to switch things up from time to time, but sometimes it’s hard for me to stick to one thing. It’s not always bad, but I think it can be hindering my growth and also preventing me from doing certain things. Not only will I be committing to things, I want to be consistent in them as well. This comes with a lot of organization and focus. My fear is very human, and it’s okay, but I know that God’s got me, so I will not let that feeling take over me.

These are definitely things that can be very hard on my own, so I will do my absolute best to consciously commit my plans, my challenges, and my daily deeds, to God. I know that my dreams can become my reality if I consciously involve Him consistently and daily.

Have you started planning for 2018? What do you want to do better? What do you want to leave in 2017? Have you talked to God about it? Have you prayed about it? Do you plan on telling someone about it?

I wish you all the best in all that you do in the New Year! I hope whatever you do helps you grow spiritually, mentally, emotionally, and physically and that it all makes you more capable of loving and caring for others!

Commit whatever you do to the Lord and he will establish your plans (Proverbs 16:3, NIV).
