Christmas 2017

One thing I love about Christmas, really the holiday season in general, is that so many memories are made. Families and friends come together to make each other feel loved through exchanging gifts, laughs, and food. The amount of love and joy radiating create a warmth in the air, one that is truly unmatched.

As I was rereading the birth of Jesus in Luke, I couldn’t help but notice verse 19:

…but Mary kept all these things in her heart and thought about them often.

Some versions also say “Mary treasured these things”. I don’t know why I never paid attention to this verse, but it had me thinking. Mary went through so much in a small amount of time, from being conceived by the Holy Spirit, to almost being divorced, to the birth of Jesus. She needed to take it all in. It all must have finally hit her in that moment. She had just done something that she, and so many other after her, will remember for a lifetime. 

During the holiday season, we go through so many lengths to make sure we do something that our loved ones will remember for a long time. We spend countless hours planning and decorating and generous amounts of money buying gifts to make sure we create memories that last. When we se our plans come to life, we not only capture these moments with picture) but we also capture these moments in our hearts, and just like Mary, if they really meant something to us, think about them often. 

This Christmas capture moments to treasure in your heart. Enjoy your time spent with your loved ones and remember the true reason we celebrate this wonderful holiday.
