#CheckIn
We are three months into 2019! Can you imagine? I literally remember New Year’s Eve service like it was last week. Because it was, right? Mmkay, I know it was three months ago, but it literally feels like it was last week.
If you’ve been following me for a while or know me personally, you know how much I love the beginning of a new year. I love seeing people set new goals for themselves and just see them do better! It honestly warms my heart. Although you can begin something new at any time, I think most people find comfort in starting at the beginning of a new year for various reasons.
One reason I firmly believe and can relate to is that I am not alone when I do New Year’s Resolutions. Sooooooooo many people set out to better themselves at the beginning of a new year and to me, it’s beautiful. That's why I love seeing people #CheckIn on Instagram and mention their friends. I know the “doing life together” thing sounds kinda corny, but it’s so important. You know that verse in Genesis 2 that people always use to for romantic relationships, “Then the Lord said, ‘It is not good for man to be alone. I will make a helper who is just right for him’” (v.18). The Hebrew translation of helper I got is ‘ezer which means “help” or “succour”. Now succour, as a noun, means "assistance and support in times of hardship and distress". As a verb, it means "to give assistance or aid to".
That was a lot, but let me help you:
1) Life isn’t meant to be done alone.
2) Help is a gift from God
It’s cool to have goals to better yourself. New year, new you. Go off! I’m here for it! But who is helping you to get where you want to go? Okay, yes. God is there to help you, of course, no doubt about it. God was there with Adam, too. It was literally God himself that said it is not good for man to be alone, knowing that He will never leave man's side. *sent in invisible ink* God wasn’t even alone when He created man. So why do we think we can live life and attain certain things without someone beside us? I’m not saying that you need to tell everyone you meet all your life goals, but you should have at least one person who can be there for you to help you stay accountable. It’s a God send, when someone is able to say, “I’m here for you. I want to see you do well!” and actually mean it. You know those people that tell you to get up and record that video, write that blog or get in the studio. The ones that send you the videos and links to the tools that will help you grow. When you find someone like that, hold tight to them. Their help is life giving.
Here's some things to think about: How are your goals for the New Year going? Have you been doing well? Have you been consistent? Are you seeing results? If you’re content with the direction you’re going in, what is helping you stay motivated? And if you’re on the other end, what can be done to help you stay on track?
If you don’t have someone helping you stay accountable right now, go and pick up that phone! And if you still can’t find anyone, feel free to hit me up. I’d be more than happy to make sure you #CheckIn.
You can do this! I believe in you! I’m most definitely rooting for you. And of course, praying for you!
Much love always,
Kumam 💘
